It’s called a silent day because you don’t speak at all. That absence of conversation naturally directs your attention inward, toward yourself. You don’t need to take care of others, so your focus shifts inward. The meditations help guide that process.

This brings many benefits, such as:
A clearer perspective on where you are in life and what you might want to change;
Rest for both body and mind. You literally recharge, even during meditation. Did you know that sometimes meditation can be more restful than sleep?
Improved concentration and focus;
And at the same time, deeper relaxation—physically, emotionally, and energetically—because meditation helps you release what you’re holding on to.

Don’t worry, you won’t be sitting rigidly on a mat and cushion all day—not at my silent days. I’d call it a “light” silent meditation day. We meditate on chairs or cushions (your choice), and also practice walking meditations, both rooted in the Vipassana tradition. In addition, we do a moving meditation and a lying down body meditation.

Participants with very busy lives (some working 60 hours a week!) have been extremely enthusiastic. Here are some of their reflections:

Stiltedag

Bij jezelf thuiskomen

We zijn zo gewend om in de hectiek van alle dag mee te gaan, druk…druk…druk. Af en toe een moment stilte en rust om weer op te laden is eigenlijk een must.

In een stiltedag hoef je eigenlijk niets, behalve mediteren. De stilte helpt je om naar binnen te gaan en meer in het hier en nu te komen. Stilte is ook helend. Op deze stiltedag krijg je verschillende meditaties aangeboden, o.a. uit Het Clarity Proces van Jeru Kabbal en uit de Vipassanatraditie. Zo wordt je uitgenodigd de stilte in jezelf te -her-ontdekken. Aan het einde van de dag kun je met een helder hoofd en rust weer naar huis.
